GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Flowers, notes and mementos are placed on the corner of Battleground and New Garden to honor two women who lost their lives there.

On Sunday, about 20 friends got together at the intersection to host a vigil in memory of Stephanie Warshauer and Allie Bolick.

Investigators say the women were struck and killed by the driver of a stolen vehicle last Saturday. According to police, the driver of the stolen car was being chased by a deputy and ran a red light, crashing into Warshauer's car. All 5 people involved in the accident died, three in the stolen car and the two women.

"Why Stephanie? Why Allie?" Kandace Green asked at the vigil.

Green went to college with Stephanie at Western Carolina University. She planned the vigil to honor both women.

"If you were having a bad day, she (Stephanie) always knew it before you even said anything," Green explained. "And she would find a way to bring you away from your problems and comfort you and just put a smile on your face."

Warshauer was 32 years old. Bolick would have turned 30 on Sunday.
