Star Wars mania revved up last night with the premiere of The Last Jedi. Scores of fans dressed up in their favorite Star Wars characters to catch the premiere. Makes you wonder how a great following or fandom happens.

Being a fan gives you a sense of belonging and community. You find like-minded people who share the same interests. If you couldn't find someone who shares your interests then you'd run the risk of feeling isolated.

And if you're not a big fan then you gotta accept the fandom even if you don't understand it. You can stay a healthy distance away if you choose. Or, you can ask a fan what makes them a fan. You just might be surprised at their answer and you might just become a fan yourself.
