VERIFY: DisabilityOver50.com | A Phishing Scheme or Legitimate Company?

The catch is you've got to hand over your name, date of birth and email address.

A viewer reached out to WFMY News 2's sister station WVEC to ask if we could verify if a website geared towards people over 50-years-old actually offers free benefit consultations.

The site is called DisabilityOver50.com and it claims to evaluate eligibility for certain social security programs.

The catch is you've got to hand over your name, date of birth and email address.

So, is it a legitimate company or a phishing scam?

After looking through the website, we found the BBB accreditation badge, which means the site is accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

We also reached out to the Better Business Bureau to verify the badge's legitimacy.

They said that the website is operated by I.M. Solutions, which is also accredited by the BBB.

So, if you visit DisabilityOver50.com, and fill out the online form asking for personal information, it goes straight to one of a number of attorneys willing to help you find out how qualified you are for certain programs. And you can request a list of those lawyers' names.

So the answer to this VERIFY question is YES. The website is definitely legitimate.
