Ways To Tell The Truth To Spare Hurt Feelings

Cushioning the blow when telling the truth

If you tuned into the Good Morning Show yesterday, you might've hear Meghann and I talking about different types of lies - protective lies, lies of omission and flat out blatant lies. So that got us thinking, is honesty the best policy?

We all know the truth can hurt sometimes so we ultimately end up lying to avoid hurting someone's feelings. But, is there a way to cushion the truth so you don't make someone feel bad?

People lie to avoid the fallout of being honest. You want to avoid hurting feelings, arguments and problems, you might choose to lie. But you don't have to. Think about the way you talk to someone. You can say that you're having a hard time sharing what you're thinking. Or, you're struggling with what you have to say. And yes, if they get angry at you, you might regret telling them the truth. Realize that they're responsible for their own emotions and reactions. And their responses shouldn't sway you.

You can continue the conversation with me on my Facebook page, Blanca Cobb - Body Language Expert. While you're on my page, give it a "like" and write a message on my timeline.
