GREENSBORO, NC- With freezing temperatures, rain, sleet, and snow all apart of the weekend forecast, local agencies declared a "white flag emergency."

Agencies working with homeless residents will meet to discuss options, like open warming centers across the city on December 8th, 9th, and 10th, as per the city's Emergency Winter Response Plan. The initiative ensures those vulnerable to the elements will receive shelter on the worst winter nights.

Nonprofit leaders from Greensboro Urban Ministry, the Interactive Resource Center and YWCA along with city emergency management officials will discuss how homeless residents can seek assistance during the emergency. They'll also discuss how to provide ways other community members may donate or volunteer to support the effort.

The meeting happens at 3:30PM on December 8th in the Plaza Level Conference Room on 300 W. Washington St.
