KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- Police in Kernersville said a woman was seriously burned after she crashed on I-40.
An officer came across a car that had crashed near the 202-mile post just before 10:30 p.m. Monday. The officer said the car was on fire and a woman was trying to remove something from the car, when the car became fully engulfed in flames.
Police said woman was seriously burned and emergency crews took her to Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. Police identified the woman as Chasty Haney and believe she is the only person involved in the accident.
Both directions of I-40 were closed for a short period of time, and at last check, no charges have been filed.
This crash is under investigation.
