SMYRNA, Ga. -- A 911 dispatcher saved the life of an elderly woman who had fallen and been incapacitated for days, and officials say the woman would have been dead within hours had the dispatcher not located her in time.

On April 10, 2018, Smyrna dispatch operator Takerra Brown received a 911 call from a cell phone, but the call center was unable to determine the caller's exact address or location.

Brown could faintly hear someone on the line requesting help and, using a variety of dispatching resources including play back features and call mapping software, found the caller's address.

Smyrna fire and rescue personnel forced their way into the home, and found the woman who'd been suffering for several days without any help. According to the fire personnel, had they not located the woman and rendered medical help, she would have surely died within the next couple of hours.
