Fire Department, Police Officers Help Honor Fallen Veteran

The post says ICU staff from Maine Medical Center reached out to the Portland Fire Department and asked if the fire station could help honor the veteran, who had served two tours of duty in Iraq.

A fire station in Portland, Maine helped give a proper send off to a late USMC Veteran Wednesday.

A Facebook post with a photo of the moment had over 1,700 shares as of Thursday morning. The post says ICU staff from Maine Medical Center reached out to the Portland Fire Department and asked if one of the fire stations could help honor the veteran, who had served two tours of duty in Iraq.

The department was joined by police officers, other veterans, doctors and hospital staff.

The post read "This Marines body was covered with the American flag as he was escorted down a hallway that was lined with Portland Firefighters & Police Officers, Military Veterans, Doctors and hospital staff, all standing at attention."
