Greensboro First Responder Part Of NC Volcano Response Team Helping In Hawaii

The NC team will work out of an emergency operations center in Hilo aiding the Hawaii County Civil Defense agency, According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

RALEIGH, NC (WFMY) -- Ten emergency managers and fire service officials from North Carolina left for Hawaii Saturday for a great cause.

To help on an incident management team in response to the erupting Kilauea volcano.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, the NC team will work out of an emergency operations center in Hilo aiding the Hawaii County Civil Defense agency.

The team is made up of one state emergency manager and nine county and local emergency managers and fire officials.

The array of team members come from emergency management agencies in Bladen, Gates, Lee, McDowell, Moore, and Onslow counties. The fire departments come from Cary, Charlotte, Greensboro, and from NC Emergency Management.

The team will spend a total of 14 days in Hawaii before returning home.
