GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- A school bus carrying six Southside High School students was struck by a falling tree Wednesday afternoon at Old Grove Road and Gray Fox Trail in Piedmont.
Five of the students on board were transported to the hospital for minor injuries and their parents were notified. The bus driver was not injured in the incident, Beth Brotherton, a spokesperson for Greenville County Schools, said.
A dead pine tree was blown over by the wind and struck the bus while it was in motion at approximately 5:20 p.m., Brotherton said.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
