HAWKINS, Texas (AP) - It's not unusual for a Texas rancher to know how to rope and wrangle an ornery critter, but the one Hal Conover tangled with was pretty unusual. It was a 10-foot alligator that got little too close to his cattle.
Byron South of Convergent Hunting Solutions says he got a call from Conover, after the alligator broke into a pen where Conover was weaning calves.

Game wardens were also summoned. But it was Conover who lassoed the thrashing gator while two other men jumped on it. One of the guys got bit, but his injuries were said to be minor. In the end, the alligator was loaded into a trailer and hauled to a wildlife park.
