A front has stalled just south of the Triad near the NC/SC border. A wave of low pressure will track east along the front tonight and bring a few scattered showers & storms to the Piedmont. A few storms could become severe with gusty wind and hail as the main threats.
Timing for the storms: 9-11pm in the Foothills; 10pm-1am or so in the Triad.
The low pressure system will move east of our area forcing the front a bit farther south by Sunday. This means Sunday should be a mainly dry day. Rain chances will be on the increase later Monday into Tuesday as a stronger system moves out of the Southern Plains and tracks our way. High temperatures will be slightly above normal today, near normal Sunday and below normal for much for the new week. Colder weather with highs in the chilly 40’s will arrive Wednesday and Thursday.
Sunday will be partly cloudy and dry with a high around 61. Rain chances will be on the increase later Monday through Tuesday. Highs will be in the cooler mid 50’s both days. Morning low temperatures Monday and Tuesday will be in the lower 40’s. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with mainly A.M. rain, possibly mixed with snow. Thursday will be partly cloudy. Wednesday and Thursday will be much colder with highs both days only in the mid 40’s. The Thursday morning low will be near freezing.
The normal high is 61, and the normal low is 39.
