Temperatures will combine with humidity to not only make it uncomfortable but potentially dangerous at times. Make sure to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

High pressure is in firm control just off the coast of the Carolinas. It's in prime position to funnel in some warm southwesterly winds into our area. This takes heat and humidity from the Gulf of Mexico and brings it here. Today we'll start in the mid 70s, warming quickly to around 90 by lunchtime. Highs will reach the mid 90s, but it will feel like around 100. There's also a low chance for pop-up storms.

The heat wave will continue during the middle of the week. One thing to watch will be a dying cold front moving farther south on Wednesday. As it does, the chance for thunderstorms will slightly increase for Wednesday afternoon. That same front will still be in the area on Thursday and Friday. We'll keep the storm chance a bit elevated for both of those days.

Keep in mind, air quality remains poor with high levels of ozone. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert is in effect for the Piedmont. Those with asthma or other respiratory problems should limit their time outside.
