EDEN, NC -- A beloved restaurant in Rockingham County was torn to pieces Friday morning when a tornado ripped through Eden. 

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado was was an EF-1 category storm. The storm damaged Red River Grill in Eden. Parts of the roof is now missing, and the tornado shattered the restaurant's front doors. There is also water damage inside to deal with. 

People who stopped by to take pictures Friday afternoon say they didn't even hear the storm last night, and they were surprised at all the damage at Red River Grill. The managers estimate there is about $15,000 in damage. Electricians were out Friday to get the wiring back in place.

Eden city officials say 25 homes and nine businesses were damaged. There were no injuries and no deaths.

The storm also hit close to home for Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page. The storm knocked down trees in his yard and damaged his sheriff's truck.
