Power outages hit 1,500 as storms roll through Piedmont-Triad Sunday

Strong storms hit across the Triad early Sunday morning and another round popped up midday, according to the WFMY News 2 Weather Team.

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Storms hitting parts of the Piedmont-Triad on Sunday left approximately 1,500 homes without power.

Strong storms hit across the Triad early Sunday morning and another round popped up midday, according to the WFMY News 2 Weather Team.

According to Duke Energy, 281 are without power in Clemmons, 200 are without power in Asheboro, and about 1,000 are without power in the town of Franklinville east of Asheboro.

Randolph Electric Membership Corporation reports there are 137 power outages community.
