List of NC Artists Performing at 2017 National Folk Festival

National Folk Festival Announces NC Artists

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Artists from the land of the long leaf pine will showcase their art, music, and crafts at the National Folk Festival this September. 

North Carolina artists joining the festival were announced on Thursday. Some of them include singer Don Flemons, Seagrove potter Chad Brown, and Greensboro slam poet Josephus Thompson III. 

Last fall, the National Folk Festival brought more than 138,000 people to downtown Greensboro. Organizers expect the event to grow by 30 percent this year. 

300 artists will be performing for the FREE three-day weekend event - September 8-10.

Artists performing on the North Carolina Traditions Stage:

  • Cole Mountain Cloggers – clogging; Mars Hill, North Carolina
  • Eric Xavier Band - eastern North Carolina funk, jazz, R&B; Kinston, North Carolina
  • Leela School of Dance - Bharata Natyam (Indian classical dance); Fayetteville, North Carolina
  • Spencer Branch - old-time; Crumpler, North Carolina
  • Le’Andra McPhatter - gospel, R&B, jazz; Kinston, North Carolina
  • Dark Water Rising - Lumbee Indian rock and soul; Robeson County, North Carolina
  • Strictly Strings - old-time string band; Boone, North Carolina
