It's National Free Comic Book Day!

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Comic book shops across the country are giving - yes, giving - away more than 4 million comic books today.

It's all part of National Free Comic Book Day.

Here in the Triad, ACME Comics is prepared to give away nearly 2 tons of comic books Saturday. The comic book shop has 57 titles to give away, and the first 100 people in line are guaranteed all 57 titles. But, being first might be difficult, since the first person has been waiting outside the store since Thursday at 8 p.m.

Still there's plenty of time to get in line and grab your free comic books. ACME will give away books from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. ACME is located at 2150 Lawndale Dr. in Greensboro.

Parents with small children might be able to skip the lines all together. You can pick up six comic books for your kids at the Greensboro Children's Museum, and four books at Windsor Recreation Center, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Free Comic Book Day started in 2002 as a promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to help bring new readers into independent comic book stores.
