Nurse Makes Costumes For Tiny Preemies At NC Hospital

Halloween Feature - Costumes For New Born Babies

HICKORY, N.C. -- A nurse at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory did something special for the preemie babies she cares for in the NICU.

Katie Windsor crocheted tiny little costumes for them. She made capes adorned with Batman, Superman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles emblems and more.

And if you think the costumes are cute, just imagine what the parents think.

Logan Sauceda's son has been in the NICU for more than three months since he was born. For him, it helps him imagine his baby boy outside of a hospital setting.

"I think it's a pretty wonderful thing for them to do," Logan said.

Katie says it's just a little something extra she does to hopefully bring smiles to the parents who are going through a trying time.

“I’ve never had to go home and leave my baby. I just think it’s something I can do for the parents that are having to go home and leave half their heart here,” Katie said.
