BURLINGTON, N.C. -- A Burlington family now has a place to call home, thanks to Habitat For Humanity of Alamance County.
The locally run non-profit helps provide affordable housing for low-income families.
Jasmine Harris has long-dreamed of being a home owner. But as a single mother of 2, this dream seemed unattainable. Buying a traditional house would be particularly difficult for Harris because she earns just 50 percent of the median income in Burlington.
Harris received the keys to her brand new home on Sunday. As a new homeowner, Harris is one step closer to achieving the "American Dream."
This house is not only a milestone for the Harris family, but also for Habitat For Humanity of Alamance County as a whole. This is the 150th house the group has built for low-income families.
