GREENSBORO, N.C. - Decked out in an America flag corset and a kitchen gear turned artistic hat, Rosie Rodgers steps up to arm wrestle her opponent.
Social worker by day, Megan Albert plays Rodgers. She’s one of 20 female wrestlers with the Greensboro Arm Wrestling League, a non-profit raising money for local charities. All of which have their own characters.
“When you’re able to channel a little bit of their courage, their strength, their super powers or what have you, and in a way that is able to benefit people is what really attracted me,” Albert said.
On this night the group would raise about $3,000 for the charity “I Am A Queen,” which mentors low-income children. But each event has a different beneficiary.
The organization is looking for more wrestlers. They’ll hold an interest meeting May 20th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Or you can find out more from their Facebook page.
