Thomasville Man Almost Didn't Buy His $100K Winning Lotto Ticket

RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Thomasville man almost didn't buy what turned out to be a winning lottery ticket - worth $100,000!

Steven Hawkins said he didn't plan on buying a $5 Mega Bucks ticket when he stopped by the Raceway on South Main Street in High Point.

“I was just getting gas for my sister-in-law,” Hawkins said. “After I paid, I was about to walk out, but turned around and asked for the ticket.”

That decision sure was a lucky one!

After state and federal taxes, Hawkins took home $69,502.

He says he plans on using the money to buy his dream home.
