WFMY News 2 Winterfest

What: It's that time of year again for all things ice skating fun! The WFMY News 2 Winterfest ice skating rink is open now through January 28, 2018. It's located at

Kids (2-5): $6 / person

Kids (6-12): $8 / person

Visit With Santa

What: It’s never too early or too late to let Santa know what you want for Christmas. Kids can visit with Santa at Hanes Ball in the lower level of Belk Court. Santa’s new home at the mall includes a fireplace, windows, multiple Christmas trees, and more.

When: Kids can visit with Santa Monday through Saturday from 10am to 1pm, 2pm to 5pm, and 6pm to 9pm; and Sundays from noon to 3pm and 4pm to 6pm. Santa’s visit to Hanes Mall is from November 11th to December 24th at 6pm when he begins his Christmas trek around the world.

All Aboard The Polar Express!

What: Kids can take a ride on the Polar Express for a trip to the North Pole thanks to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. Passengers are served hot chocolate, a sweet treat, lively songs, dance, and the reading of the classic The Polar Express!

When: Dec. 1-3, 8-10, 14-22

Tanglewood Festival Of Lights
What: Pack the car and head to Tanglewood Festival of Lights. Make sure you turn your radio to 99.5 WMAG to hear holiday music set to the light displays. Plus, visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus!

When: Friday, November 17 Through Sunday, January 1, 2018

Costs: Family (cars, vans and trucks): $15, Commercial (vans, limos, and mini-buses): $35, Motorcoaches and buses: $100

Where: Tanglewood Park, 4061 Clemmons Road

Country Christmas Train

What: All aboard the Country Christmas Train for a holiday good time. The 9th annual Country Christmas Train begins on Friday, November 24 and runs through December 27. The train leaves every half hour from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. taking passengers on a 1 1/2 mile loop around Denton FarmPark. You'll get to see hundreds of light displays, a live Nativity, and a short movie about the Christmas story. Rides last about 20 minutes.

Where: Denton Farm Park, Enter park at 4259 Handy Road in Denton

Other: Admission is $13 for adults on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday nights. It’s $15 on Saturday nights. Admission is $5 for children ages 5 - 11, and free for kids under the age of 4. Find out more about theme nights, discounts and more by visiting Country Christmas Train.

HPU Community Christmas Celebration

What: Come celebrate the holiday season with High Point University as part of the 7th Community Christmas Celebration. The event is held on campus and includes free entertainment, hot food, Christmas decorations, and more! This is a free event open to the community.

When: December 14 & 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Guests will need to part at Oak Hollow Mall near the entrance to the HPU Community Center. There will be shuttles to take you to campus.

2017 Community Christmas festivities will include:
— Performances by local schools and church choirs, including:
– Dec. 14 – High Point Central High School Marching Band
– Dec. 15 – T.W. Andrews High School Marching Band
– Others to be announced soon
— Community Christmas Worship Service with Communion – NEW

Free Organ Concerts

What: Come and enjoy sounds of the Tannenberg Organ on Wednesdays in December at Old Salem Museums & Gardens. The concerts are free!

When: December 6, 13, & 20 from 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: James A. Gray, Jr. Auditorium in the Old Salem Visitor Center located at 900 Old Salem Road in Winston-Salem

Live Nativity

What: Experience the Christmas story like never before with a live nativity.

When: December 22-23 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Ellisboro Baptist Church located at 1595 Ellisboro Road in Madison
