Jeansboro Day Takes Over Greensboro In True Denim Fashion

The celebration will feature a 70s-inspired fashion show to kick-off Greensboro Fashion Week, live music by worldwide high-energy band Simply Irresistible, and a beer garden.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - You’ve got your favorite pair of jeans and you probably wouldn’t trade them for the world!

Jeansboro Day took over Greensboro’s LeBauer Park in full denim fashion. This marks the third year for the event celebrating Wrangler’s deep roots in Greensboro.

The “jean friendly” event celebrated Wrangler’s 70 years of denim business. The event included a 3-foot-tall Jeans Themed Cake by Easy Peasy Bakery in Greensboro.

Traci Rankins, the owner, said it took 3 days to make working 14 hours a day. The cake is made out of Rice Crispy treats and white modeling chocolate. Rankins said her team had to rent a U-Haul truck to bring it to the event.

“We kind of impressed ourselves with that one. It turned out better than we could have ever imagined,” said Rankins.

The team designed the cake around an important concept, “I wanted it to be something that was related to Greensboro and one of those statues of the jeans all over the town,” said Rankins.

Easy Peasy used eight cases of eggs, 6 cases of butter, and more than 100 pounds of sugar. They had to use a U-Haul to transport the Jeans themed cake.

It also included a 70s inspired fashion show along the runway built in the middle of the park. The line included new Wrangler looks for fall. The fashion show also kicks-off Greensboro’s Fashion Week.

"We're thrilled to celebrate this tremendous milestone with the community that has supported
Wrangler from the very beginning," said Craig Errington, Wrangler vice president of marketing.

"Jeansboro Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize the special place that Greensboro
occupies in the history of the American blue jean," said Errington.

Mayor Nancy B. Vaughan, proclaimed the day, September 20 as the official Jeansboro Day.

Wrangler introduced the Jeansboro initiative in 2015 in the hometown of the denim label and its parent company, VF Corporation, to commemorate the role of the region's textile community in transforming the American blue jean into an international icon.
