Man Arrested In SC After Stealing Car With 1-Year-Old Boy Inside: Police

YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- A 41-year-old was arrested in Clover after missing 1-year-old was found safe following an Amber Alert.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- A 41-year-old was arrested in Clover after missing 1-year-old was found safe following an Amber Alert.

Authorities were initially called to the 900 block of View Heights Drive in Gastonia, North Carolina around 8 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a stolen vehicle that had an 18-month-old child inside.

An Amber Alert was issued around 1:15 a.m. Thursday and then later cancelled for the child, Gage Conley, after he was found safe.

Gaston County Police said they worked with the York County Sheriff's Office in finding and arresting the child's alleged abductor, Theodore R. Lipscomb. According to authorities, Lipscomb is an acquaintance of the child's mother and had been riding with her and her boyfriend in the car prior to the theft.

Lipscomb was arrested in York County and is currently being held pending extradition to North Carolina. Police are still trying to locate the stolen Chevrolet Suburban that was last known to be towing a boat.
