A Greensboro Baby And Her Family Are March Of Dimes Ambassador

A Greensboro baby and her family are ambassadors for March Of Dimes. 15-month-old London Galloway and her parents, Dylan and Yalonda featured in the March for Babies at Center City Park, Saturday.

The Galloway's were picked as ambassador because of London story of survival. London came sooner than expected and needed a lot of help.

"London was born a little over three months prematurely original due date was April 26 but she was born on January 17," said dad, Dylan Galloway. As a premature baby, London was also very little

"She came in weighing a pound and 7 ounces, " said Dylan. To give some perspective, he added that London's hand could pass through his wedding band.

London is just one of more than half a million babies born prematurely each year. The organization, March of Dimes was able to help her off to a good start on life.

"If it had not been for the organizations such as March of Dimes research probably would not have been created to fund some of the illnesses that she had a long way," said Dylan. Little London is now a thriving toddler and an Ambassador for March of Dimes.

"She's just been a little bundle of joy. Every now and then whenever she cries and let her cry because she didn't cry when we had her so I always need those cry."

Premature births and complications from them are the largest contributors to infant death in the U.S.

The number of mothers dying during childbirth has also increased over the past 25 years.

"Such a blessing to be a part of an organization that gives back to not only the local community but the proceeds stay here and it also helps with the development of research for premature babies," concluded Dylan.
