Change Your Mindset For A Peaceful Thanksgiving

Change your mindset for a peaceful family Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. You might be looking forward to a delicious turkey with all the trimmings. But, you’re not anticipating awkward interactions with certain family members.

The holiday season can be crazy enough with shopping, visiting and giving. When you add the stress of seeing family members who you don’t get along with, it can be anxiety provoking.

I’ve got 3 tips to help you flip-the-script so you can have a more enjoyable Thanksgiving. Know this, it’s all about your mindset.

1) Dismiss the drama. There can’t be drama if you’re not a part of it. When the family gossip starts to draw you in the vortex, point out the positive or just stare at them and say nothing. Your response just might shock them into silence.

2) During those hard moments, talk with kindness. When you talk with kindness you’re reframing the interaction and you’re taking control of the conversation.

3) Love your family members for who they are; forget about what they’re not. When you accept people with all their quirks and imperfections then you’ll see them differently. Their goodness becomes more noticeable. Remember that you’ve got more control over family situations than you might realize because you’re in control of yourself.
