GREENSBORO, NC - Maria has restrengthened to a Category 1 hurricane but continues to move away from the North Carolina coast.
As Maria continues to head NNE away from the coast, its effects along the Outer Banks will diminish. A Tropical Storm Warning still in effect for a portion of the NC Outer Banks.
Here's the latest on the storm. As of Wednesday afternoon, the storm was a Category 1 Hurricane with 75 mph max sustained winds. It's moving to the NNE at 7 mph. It'll continue to move out to sea and weaken as we head into the weekend.
