Made In The Triad: Uncle Chris' Pimento Cheese

Forsyth County, NC -- Only premium ingredients go into Uncle Chris' Pimento Cheese. "In today's competitive world, you've got to have quality to set yourself apart," said co-owner Chris Russell.

The main ingredient in Uncle Chris' Pimento Cheese is 100-percent real cheddar cheese. "We had a lady tell us last week her grandmother made the best pimento cheese in the world. She tasted it. I can't reveal her name because in the end she said this is better than my grandmothers," exclaimed co-owner Kevin Heath.

The co-owners are good friends who met on the golf course 13 years ago. Chris Russell is the one who invented the company's pimento cheese recipe. "I created a recipe that reminded me of what I used to eat as a child," said Russell.

The two started their business in Forsyth County in September 2013. Their pimento cheese can now be found in dozens of stores from the Triad to the Triangle. "It's been overwhelming to think something I created is that well liked by everyone who tries it," said Russell.

The pimento cheese is offered in three flavors: Uncle Chris' premium original, chipotle and smoking habanero.

Russell and Heath suggest putting melted pimento cheese on broccoli, on burgers and in scrambled eggs.

They are two good friends who are committed to quality. "Our product costs a little more but we feel it's worth every penny."

Uncle Chris' Pimento Cheese can be found at more than 30 Lowes Foods stores across North Carolina as well as at various specialty stores and the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market in Colfax.
