Kohl’s Corp. said Monday it expects to hire more than 69,000 additional workers for the holiday season.
The seasonal jobs — the same number as in 2015 — are available at more than 1,100 department stores nationwide, distribution and e-commerce fulfillment centers, and at Kohl’s credit operations.
“The holidays are an exciting time to join the Kohl’s team. Whether you’re looking to start a career in retail or make extra money for the holidays, Kohl’s is a great place to work with a culture of appreciation and opportunity,” Ryan Festerling, Kohl’s executive vice president of human resources, said in a statement.
Kohl’s is stressing “ominchannel” shopping, in which merchandise can be purchased however customers want: in stores, at Kohls.com or using both, via the option to buy online and pick up the items at a store.
Hiring began in August, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November. Hiring levels at specific locations vary depending on the business needs of each facility
Store associates stock merchandise and assist customers on the sales floor and at the point of sale. They also help fill buy-online, pick-up-in-store orders from Kohls.com, as well as fulfill Kohls.com orders designated to ship from stores directly to Kohl’s customers.
At Kohl’s distribution centers, employees make sure products arrive at Kohl’s stores and also help fill online orders for Kohls.com. E-commerce fulfillment center workers pick and ship orders for Kohls.com customers.
Employees in Kohl’s credit operations perform a variety of customer service functions, including assisting customers with Kohls.com orders.

Several other retailers and businesses have already started ramping up hiring for the key holiday shopping season.
Nationwide, UPS will hire about 95,000 people for the holiday season to help meet shipping demands. Target has said it will hire more than 70,000 seasonal store workers, about the same as it hired last year.
Toys R US has not given an overall hiring figure, but expects to add at least 10,900 workers in five of its biggest markets.
