Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Returns With Almond Milk

SEATTLE - Fall has not yet arrived but a favorite cool weather drink is almost back on the menu at Starbucks -- pumpkin spice latte.

Starbucks is bringing the Pumpkin Spice Latte back to their fall menu for the 13th year on September 6. Although they have not officially launched, they're promoting the drink on the app and through their official PSL Twitter account where customers can get a PSL fan pass.

The mix just recently added actual pumpkin to the list of ingredients that includes "pumpkin spice sauce with real pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, clove and nutmeg. It's handcrafted with espresso and steamed milk, and topped off with whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin pie topping," according to the Seattle-based company.

While the traditional latte includes steamed cow's milk, over the years Starbucks has added their own "soymilk" and "coconutmilk" alternatives. In the 2016 season, they're adding their own blend of "almondmilk" as another dairy-free alternative.

"Although the official fall launch at Starbucks is September 6, PSL fans will be able to order the drink beginning today (August 31)," a release read.

Also new to the menu is a spicy drink they've named Chile Mocha.

“We found that the ancho chile and cayenne perfectly complemented chocolate,” she said. “It has a sweet touch to it, with an approachable amount of heat.”
