Greensboro, NC -- In order to take out any confusion on getting to the tournament held at Sedgefield Country Club for the first time in 32 years, tournament leaders say only one public parking lot is needed.
"One of our top priorities was to make sure that the shuttle and the parking was easy. The best spot for that was right at the corner of Guilford College Road and High Point Road. That's where public parking is going to be," said tournament director Mark Brazil.
There will be separate lots for vendors, media, vip's and caddies, but the public lot will be accessible from I85, Business 85, Business 40 and I40.
Shuttle buses will take patrons to the tournament on what leaders say will be a five minute ride. "From that perspective you're looking at a 2 mile ride into (Sedgefield Country Club.) So people can come in from off the highways which is very important to me and make this 5 minute bus ride into here. I don't like 15 to 20 minute bus rides. So, we worked very hard to make sure that was something that was convenient and was good for our fan base."
Parking in the public lot still costs $5 per car as it did when the tournament was at Forest Oaks.
Brazil expects congestion and traffic delays during the week of the tournament especially along Guilford College Road and High Point Road, but he says they're excited about the venue at Sedgefield.
"We wanted to be easy for people in Burlington, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Greensboro, Lexington we wanted it to be easy for people to get here. High Point. So, we feel like this is a more centrally located venue for us."
