Winston-Salem - A weekend fight at Hanes Mall has some asking how safe they are when they go shopping.

Police arrested two teens after a fight started inside and then spread outside.  Investigators say more than 100 people were involved.

When WFMY News 2 spoke with Winston-Salem police in charge of this investigation, they say large fights like this aren't common at the Hanes Mall, but teens do hang out in large numbers here on the weekends.

In order to deal with this, Hanes Mall hires four to six off-duty Winston-Salem police officers to patrol the mall from six o'clock to ten o'clock on Fridays and Saturdays.

Investigators say normally that's enough to control any type of incident like this and keep the mall safe.

But the shoppers we spoke with, know full well the massive amount of teens that hang out inside and outside of the mall.

Hanes Mall refused to comment on the situation.

Investigators told WFMY News 2 that shoppers shouldn't worry too much about their safety, the mall also has it's own security that patrols the parking lots of the mall and inside.

They said this incident is rare, but things like this do happen when you have so many unsupervised kids in one location.
