Greensboro, NC -- The snow melting across the Triad Monday will keep some students out of school Tuesday---at least for a few hours.
Guilford County Schools will operate under a two-hour delay Tuesday. On Monday, the delay was three hours.
Jeff Harris, director of transportation for Guilford County Schools, said delaying school allows more time for ice to melt before school buses begin their routes. "Our greatest concern is school buses trying to make stops and losing traction," explained Harris, who said bus drivers reported several icy spots Monday.
While the decision to delay school is based on safety, it can leave working parents in limbo. "I had to get up and look at my schedule to see how I was going to re-schedule my clients," said Crabtree, a hairdresser. "It seems like once I started working, it was no time at all. I had to turn around and pick them up."
