New Haven, CT (Sports Network) - Porter Braswell scored 19 points to lead the
Yale Bulldogs to a 79-75 overtime victory over the Dartmouth Big Green in an
Ivy League thriller at Lee Amphitheater.
Greg Mangano nearly posted a triple-double for Yale (13-12, 6-5 Ivy), as he
finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks. Jeremiah Kreisberg
added 14 points, while Reggie Willhite recorded a double-double with 10 points
and 11 boards.
Dartmouth (5-20, 1-10), which lost its eight straight game, was led by Ronnie
Dixon's 18 points. Tyler Melville added 12 points, five rebounds and five
assists and Clive Weeden scored nine points to go with his 13 rebounds.
The first half was a sign of the tight-fisted battle to come, as the Big Green
took a slim 33-32 lead into the locker room behind a 6-of-10 performance from
the charity stripe.
Neither team led by more than two points in the final four minutes of
regulation. Dixon's layup with under a minute remaining tied the game at 65-
all, sending it into bonus time.
Yale fell behind by four points early in overtime, but used a 5-0 run to climb
back into the game. Over the final 26 seconds, the Bulldogs converted 7-of-8
free throws to hang on for the win.
