Greensboro, NC -- If you put all the pennies in your piggy bank with all you friend's pennies, it could turn into some serious money. The Sanctuary House in Greensboro is banking on it.
It held a fundraiser to help people in Greensboro with mental illness Thursday. They call it the Mile of Pennies campaign.
It would take about 84,480 pennies to make a mile, so Sanctuary House hopes you have some spare change lying around.
The penny also has a special meaning for the group.
"It has Abraham Lincoln on there, and Abraham Lincoln had a mental illness, and we use that to show that you shouldn't let your mental illness stop you from accomplishing your dreams," said Maya Aliff with Sanctuary House.
If you couldn't make it to the event, check out the group's website to see how you can give.
