Oak Ridge, NC -- One Triad couple has more than Valentine's Day to celebrate Tuesday. It's also their son's first birthday.
You might remember when Colin Bryan Engel was born on Valentine's Day 2011. His parents were driving to the hospital and he just couldn't wait to get there for his arrival.
Jeremy Engel pulled the van over to the side of Bryan Boulevard and helped his wife Amber deliver Colin right then and there. A 911 dispatcher helped talk Jeremy through it.
One year later, Colin is happy and healthy.
"He's crawling all over the place and starting to walk and he is a funny little guy. He's got a great sense of humor," said Amber.
Colin's middle name is in honor of their adventure on Bryan Boulevard.
Amber said, "At this point, I'm so glad it happened that way because we have this amazing story to tell and he's always going to have a really cool story to tell about the way he was born. I mean it was really kind of scary at the time."
Jeremy said, "At the time I didn't want it to happen but now that it has, I'm pretty glad that we have this amazing story to go along with him."
He added, "One of my coworkers is having a baby at the end of the month and I offered him my services. He just laughed."
