ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office identified a body found hanging from a tree Oct. 24.
Investigators confirmed the man was 25-year-old Bryan Eugene Merrill.
Deputies believe Merrill died and had been hanging from the tree since January, and they do not suspect foul play in his death.
Investigators said they were dispatched to the area of the 12200 block of Stokes Ferry Rd. in Salisbury to investigate a found body Oct. 24. When they arrived on the scene, an employee of ABC Professional Tree Service told investigators that while mowing in the area, he saw a person hanging from a tree just inside the wood line.
Merrill was found sitting on the ground with a belt wrapped around his neck. The belt was also tied to a branch of a pine tree approximately six feet from the ground.
