Triad, NC -- When people lose their jobs, they often let their health go too, especially their teeth.
News 2 has compiled a list of resources around the Triad for low cost dental care.
The Rockingham County Health Department's dental clinic is set up for people with Medicaid and Cigna insurance. If you don't have Medicaid, but are in need of emergency services like a toothache, the clinic has some grant funds to help those patients as well. To contact the Guilford County Children's Dental Clinic, operated by the Department of Public Health, in Greensboro, call (336) 641-3152. In High Point, call (336) 845-7733.
Those clinics are available for people 20 and younger with Medicaid or NC Health Choice, as well as pregnant women who have a pink Medicaid card. The services are also for children who have applied for Medicaid or NC Health Choice but were declined, but whose parents can pay a reduced fee at the time of service.
For people who are at least 18 years old, without insurance or Medicaid, The Guilford Adult Dental The program is available Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5pm, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 4:30pm at the Department of Public Health's Chandler Dental Clinic in Greensboro. In High Point, it's available Wednesday nights beginning at 4:30pm at the Department of Public Health Building.)
The Forsyth County Department of Public Health provides a dental clinic, formerly operated by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. To contact the Department of Public Health, call (336) 703-3100.
The Alamance County Health Department offers a dental clinic to children and adults up to age 21 and also for women who are pregnant. To contact the Alamance County Health Department's dental clinic at (336) 570-6415.
EXTRAS: There are also dental schools where you can get cleanings and other services done for less than half of what you would pay in a dentist's office.
