Danville, VA-- The city of Greensboro has a new assistant manager and he'll be returning to familiar territory.

David Parrish has been hired for the job and currently lives across the state line in Danville. Friday, Danville City Manager Joe King announced Parrish's resignation as deputy city manager. He confirmed that Parrish is leaving to join the city of Greensboro as assistant city manager.

King informed City Council members on Thursday. Parrish's last day with the city will be December 7.

Parrish is no stranger to Greensboro because he grew up and attended school in the city.

City manager Denise Roth said in a news release that Parrish will be responsible for guiding the City's infrastructure departments, including engineering and inspections, field operations, planning and community development, transportation and water resources.

His start date in Greensboro is January 2.

Prior to joining the City of Danville, Parrish led the City of Yanceyville, NC as town manager from 2007-2010.

Parrish is an alumnus of Northeast Guilford High School and graduated from UNCG with a bachelor's in recreation, parks and tourism in 2000. He earned his graduate degree in public administration from UNC Chapel Hill in 2005.
