Triad -- It has been a dry month, so far. Our last heavy rain fell on Oct. 18, when we picked up 0.83". Since then, we've gotten 0.21".
We are behind 2.40" for November and 4.69" for 2012. That's part of the reason why we had an increased fire danger on Sunday.
Sunday featured very low dew points. The relative humidity ranged below 25 percent most of the day. It was also breezy at times, gusting up to about 20 mph. Add that to the already dry conditions due to lack of rain and that makes it a bad time to burn.
The humidity will come up a bit on Monday, so the threat won't be quite as high. The thing that would really help would be a good, soaking rain. We have a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday as a low pressure system pulls through. The problem is that rain totals might not be that high. Most places will get less than a quarter-inch by the time all is said and done.
