(Dover, OH) -- The earth moved in Dover, Ohio on Thursday (11/29), and it was no laughing matter for a local gas company worried about a possible breach in a gas line.
The sinkhole that opened up near the Newton Asphalt Plant took away part of the roadway. Employees discovered the hole, drawing the attention of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Dover gas company.
All of the agencies are working on the situation and the roadway, State Route 516, remains closed indefinitely.
ODOT plans to bring in geotechnical experts from Columbus to help their engineers figure out the best way to fix the road. The road could be closed until late next spring.
