Graham, NC - Police said an 8-year-old boy is going to be OK, physically, after a driver hit him as he walked to the school bus Wednesday morning.
Capt. McGilvray with Graham Police said that they received the call at 6:56 am that a child had been hit while walking to his school bus.
McGilvray said the bus was stopped on Pomeroy St., at the Admore St. intersection, facing south towards River St. with its lights and safety arm activated. As the boy was crossing over a lane of traffic towards the bus, a car driven by Crystal Lashawn Clay hit him.
McGilvray said Clay was driving at approximately 35 mph when she hit the boy and skidded another 50 feet before coming to a stop.
The impact of the hit caused the boy to roll up onto the hood of the car, over her windshield, across the top of the vehicle and then he landed on the ground. Police said the child stood up and appeared to be OK with no external injuries.
As a precaution, he was taken to Alamance Regional Hospital to be examined by doctors.
The boy is a student at Haw River Elementary.
