Jonesville, NC  --  The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect in the standoff as 37 year old John Trenton Smith.

He was taken into custody by Yadkin County Sheriff's Deputies shortly after 10:00am Friday.

WFMY News 2's Patrick Phillippi was on the scene and able to find out that earlier, Smith had stolen ammo and guns from his mother's house in Yadkin Co.

Smith had been living at the hotel for two weeks prior to this incident.  He locked himself in his room early this morning and started firing random shots.

Deputies arrived after a motel employee called to report the situation.

One deputy was grazed by a bullet, but no hospitalization was required.

All prior lane closures are now open.
