Hickory, NC -- A North Carolina man arrested on a murder charge last year has been arrested again in the investigation.
The Hickory Daily Record reports that 25-year-old Richard Clifford Gaither Jr. of Vale was arrested earlier this week and charged with murder, firing a gun into an occupied vehicle and firing a gun into a vehicle resulting in serious injury.
Nineteen-year-old Steven Darnell Simpson was shot in a car on March 28, 2011. Simpson was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he died the next day.
Gaither was arrested last year, but the charges were dropped because of a lack of evidence.
Officials say new evidence that they did not describe allowed them to obtain an indictment against Gaither. It was not clear if he has an attorney.
