Greensboro, NC -- The holidays are here. You probably already have your tree up and decorated, but Greensboro's Christmas tree took center stage at the Festival of Lights.
Even though it rained during the early part of the day, the rain stopped just in time for the Festival. One man said, "It's our first time down here. We have lived hear for 12 years and just thought we come down tonight to enjoy the festival. It's a great night the weather cleared off and kind of just puts me in the season spirit."
The festival featured events for all religions, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, and featured carolers and hot chocolate.
The event was also designed to bring extra traffic to stores in downtown.
One woman said, "I never got to see the lighting of the tree before, so this was a great experience for my first time to see this." She offered advice to anyone who may want to come out next year. "If you never came before, then you should come. It was a great experience."
WFMY News 2's Eric Chilton and Jackie Fernandez emceed the event.
