Winston-Salem, NC -- Children and their parents were invited to exchange their war toys for peaceful toys.
Violent toys and video games such as toy guns and knives were exchanged for peaceful toys like basketballs, footballs, bikes, and other toys and games.
The exchange was held Friday, December 21st at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Hundreds of kids showed up to swap their toys.
The Peace Toys for War Toys exchange started in 1992, after the murder of organizer Ben Piggott's brother. It has grown every year since then. This year, because the event was so big, organizers had to hold it at the Joel Coliseum for the first time.
