Madison Co. Man Shot; Caller Says Dad Did It

(Mars Hill, NC)  --  Madison County Sheriff's Department received a call indicating that someone had been shot during a domestic disturbance early Wednesday morning.

Dispatchers said the 3:30am call, alerted the Sheriff's office that a man had shot his son in the head.

When police arrived at the residence, they found 33-year-old John Christopher Wilson lying in the hallway with a gunshot wound to the head. 

Also in the home were the the father, accused of the shooting, and another female who witnessed the shooting.

The shooter was identified as 64 year-old John Benton Wilson, Sr.

Wilson Jr. was transported to Mission Hospital with a life threatening injury. 

Authorities recovered the probable handgun used in the crime.

The investigation is ongoing, and its not clear what charges, if any, will be brought against John Benton Wilson.
