Stokesdale, NC -- Wednesday night church members attending Bible study found a disturbing piece of paper.
Members of Bethel United Methodist who showed up for Bible study around 7 pm found a piece of paper that had been set on fire. The paper was found outside a side entrance, according to Detective Sluder.
Det. Sluder told WFMY News 2 that the case is being investigated as an Arson. He said the suspect did not enter the building and the fire did no damage outside the door where it was lit.
Firefighters from the Oak Ridge and Stokesdale fire districts responded to the call. The church is located on Haw River Road in Stokesdale.
Alan Perdue with Guilford Metro Emergency Services said they are talking with authorities in Rockingham County to see if this incident is connected to the two church fires they had just before Christmas.
Both of those fires are still under investigation. A December 23 fire at Mt. Zion United Methodist has been ruled an arson.
A fire on December 22 that completely destroyed Gideon Grove United Methodist is also under investigation, but has not been ruled an arson.
