Triad -- A cold front is moving closer to the Triad, but it won't actually move through until the middle of the week. Because of that, we have a rain chance from Monday morning through mid-day on Wednesday.
There could be a few showers in the Triad even by Monday morning. From Monday through Tuesday, there will be periods of rain. Many places could pick up an inch of rain or more through the event. Since we wrapped up last year with more than a five inch deficit, that would be welcome rain.
Temperatures are a different story. Sunday featured highs in the low 70s. Monday will be around 60. That's below today's high of 73, but still above the average high of 48. The front will move through late on Monday so temperatures will fall considerably by Tuesday. Highs will be in the mid 40's. Since the front stalls over the coastal plain, the rain chance will remain. That will make for a chilly and wet Tuesday.
The rain begins to exit on Wednesday morning and the sun returns by the afternoon. Highs will be back in the low 50s, where they will stay the rest of the week.
