Greensboro, NC -- A weak area of low pressure will develop from the Gulf of Mexico and move up the southeast into Thursday.

While cold rain will primarily the case, we can't rule out a small chance for that cold rain to turn into a rain, snow/sleet mix. There's a small chance of this into late Thursday into the overnight.

No accumulation is expected, given both the brevity of any such occurrence and the preceding warm ground and above freezing surface temperatures.

There's a better chance of seeing this winter weather turn over for the Mountain communities.

As a result, the National Weather Service issued a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" at 5 pm on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013.

The counties that could be affected are: Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, Forsyth Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Franklin, Nash, Edgecombe, Davidson, Randolph, Chatham, Wake, Johnston, Wilson, Stanly, Montgomery, Moore, Lee and Harnett.
